James Baker Arrested For Possession of Child Pornography

On 12/4/2012, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office executed a searchJamesOtisBaker warrant for possession of child pornography on Baymeadow Dr, Vinton, which is located within Bedford County. The search warrant was part of a joint investigation by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and included Task Force officers from the Bedford County County Sheriff’s Office, Christiansburg Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and Vinton Police Department. Over 60 items of evidence were seized as part of the search warrant. James Otis Baker was subsequently arrested and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford County, where 10 felony warrants for possession of child pornography were obtained and served on him for violation of § 18.2-374.1:1 Code of Virginia. Mr. Baker was processed and released on a $7,000 secured bond.

Ticey Thompson, 31, Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

Danville, VA – The Danville Police Department has made an arrest in a child pornography investigation.

Ticey Lee Thompson, 31, of Danville was charged with possession of child pornography after and joint investigation with the Southern  Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force based out of the Bedford County's Sheriff's Office. The agencies discovered information in October that led them to Thompson.

Danville police executed a search warrant on October 16 at Thompson's home on Worsham Street, where they found multiple forms of electronic images of child pornography saved on several storage devices. A forensic examination confirmed the images were illegal.

A grand jury convened this week issued 70 indictments for possession of child pornography for Thompson. He is currently being held in the Danville City Jail with no bond

Charles Canale Jr. Sentenced to Serve 55 Years

Those were Circuit Judge Michael E. McGinty's final words before imposing a 55-year prison sentence on a 32-year-old man convicted of multiple sex offenses.

Charles Frank Canale Jr. was convicted on six counts of using a computer to solicit with lascivious intent with a child under 15 and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a child. He got 120 years, with more than half suspended. Six charges carried mandatory minimum sentences.

Grady Mabe Jr. of NC Arrested for Use of A Computer to Solicit A Child

On November 15, 2012, investigators with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Againstmabe mugshot Children Task Force (SOVA-ICAC) and the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (NCICAC), served a search warrant in the 5000 Block of Sullivantown Rd., in Walkertown, NC and seized evidence related to an ongoing investigation in to the online sexual exploitation of a child.  Investigators form the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the SOVA-ICAC, were investigating a suspect who was online soliciting children for sexual purposes. Investigators were able to identify and locate the suspect as Grady Wayne Mabe, Jr. who was living in North Carolina.  The investigators contacted the NCICAC, and arrangements were made to execute a search warrant at Mabe’s residence in NC.

Auri Jones Arrested For One Felony Count of Unlawful Filming

Bedford, VA- Auri Christopher Collin Jones age 28, of Lynchburg Virginia was arrested onauri jones
November 14, 2012, on one felony count of, Unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of another; in violation of §18.2-386.1 (D), Code of VA. On November 15, 2012 Jones was arrested on one misdemeanor count of Unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of another; in violation of §18.2-386.1 (A).  Law enforcement officials are working with a local church in Bedford County and two colleges in the Lynchburg area where Jones was employed as a youth leader and adjunct Professor.  Authorities were notified that Jones was a volunteer on “Finding Faith” film that was filmed in Bedford County and the surrounding area.  Authorities have not found any link to criminal activity that occurred during the filming.  The investigation is continuing in multiple jurisdictions and additional charges are pending.  Jones was released on bond from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, Lynchburg Facility.

William A. Brothers, 51, Arrested for soliciting an underage person

Bedford, VA- William Alan Brothers age 51, of Moyock, NC was arrested on November 11, 2012, on three counts involving use of a communication system to facilitate certain offenses involving children, in violation of 18.2-374.3 Code of VA. During the last several months of 2012, Brothers communicated with individuals he had reason to believe were minors throughout the United States.

On November 11, 2012 Investigators with Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the SOVA-ICAC task force arrested Brothers in Bedford after he traveled from Moyock, NC to meet a minor. Lynchburg Police officers executed a search warrant at a local motel where Brothers had checked in. Authorities with the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in North Carolina.

Spivey Arrested for offenses involving children

Bedford, VA- Brian Keith Spivey age 50, of Hephzibah, Georgia was arrested on October 26, 2012, on charges involving use of a communication system to facilitate certain offenses involving children, in violation of  §18.2-374.3 Code of VA.
