Lynchburg man arrested on warrants related to the sexual exploitation of a minor

CLEVELAND LEROY COAXUM, JR

Bedford, VA –  On Friday July 31, 2015, Cleveland Leroy Coaxum, Jr., of Lynchburg, was arrested on warrants related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Coaxum was charged with three felonies under Code of Virginia statute § 18.2-374.3, Use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children.

Investigators from Bedford County Sheriff’s Office were made aware of an incident that took place between Coaxum and a minor. Investigators from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, (SOVA ICAC) began to vigorously investigate the alleged incident and were able to develop evidence that supported the charges against Coaxum.

Coaxum was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Investigators may obtain additional charges, pending completion of the computer forensics examination on item(s) seized.

Coaxum is currently being held in the Bedford Adult Detention Center, without Bond.
